The BR-1060 Carter Stanley Memorial Blueridge Guitar represents the instrument as he played it up until 1964. By this time, his 1950s D-28 with the standard size pickguard had seen a lot of action as Carter's standard stage instrument. He had it customized with hexagonal abalone fretboard inlays and two mother-of-pearl dots on the bridge and used it to create some of his most legendary work. Additional Carter touches include the famous White Dove headstock inlay design crafted of fine abalone and pearl which is joined on this memorial-edition guitar with his signature inlaid in gold wire. Each guitar in this limited-edition run of instruments is individually signed and numbered.

Like the best instruments, Blueridge guitars aren't overbuilt; they're crafted to be light and resonant. Meticulous attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is evident in the traditional, forward-position, hand-carved parabolic X-bracing which allows the solid Spruce top to ring loud and true. The slim mahogany neck joins the body with a traditional dovetail neck joint and has an adjustable truss rod.

Blueridge--Carter Stanley Guitar

I just received my Blueridge, Carter Stanley Memorial Guitar. This is guitar #16 for me now. Since I am now playing mostly bluegrass music, I have been gravitating towareds standard acoustic guitars. I also have a taste for the premium versions. The Carter Stanley is truly a "looker" of a guitar. I thought the overall appearance, as well as the fit and the finish were beautiful. In comparison, I own a Martin D-16GT and was trying to up that without spending the three plus grand for a D-28. Tonewise, the Carter Stanley is a bit louder and mine seems to be a little more brassy as opposed to the Martin being bassy. I feel that the Carter Stanley is a good pick for the money if you want premium a guitar with a little bit of "bling". The abalone inlays stand out well, the white trim, and the back panel decoration also spiff up the guitar nicely. I dont feel like I got a $3500 guitar for the money I paid, but in light of the above statement--I definately feel I got my money's worth with the Carter Stanley. This is a guitar that I will play a lot, and keep in my collection for years to come. Two final statements. One of the strings has a buzz to it---but I will get that taken care of. The Carter Stanley did not come with any warranty papers or guarantee--but there was a certificate of authenticity and was signed by a family member--but I knew about that by checking out some other websites. I am sure that they will stand behind the product--in the unlikely event something is not right with the guitar.

The Spirit of Bluegrass

I just recieved my Carter Stanley Memorial BR-1060 and I am blown away. This guitar could very well easily be called "The Spirit of Bluegrass Guitar." This guitar not only carrys the Carter Stanley name but seems to capture the sound of Carter's own guitar and the classic tone that we heard on all his old recording. If you are a picker you will be well pleased with the action and the feel of the neck and the loud throaty sound. If you just play rhythm this guitar will sound so good when just strummed you will be content and welcomed to play in any bluegrass band. This guitar will no doubt be worth twice its price in another ten years! I will proudly hand it down to my grandchildren.

Great Bang For The Buck...............

This guitar is a perfect back up to my Martin HD28. I've heard people compare the BR1060's sound to the Martin but I'll say the sound is closer to the OOO Clapton model Martin. The notes are articulate and very clear. I think this guitar really shines with finger picking and it's very loud. It's sound is more compressed as compared to my HD28. Also, the tone in the mids and higher end is more pronounced. The top vibrates freely and sounds great. The tone is not as complex as my Martin HD28 but for the money, nothing out there can touch this guitar. I'm really impressed with the over all quality of this guitar that's built in China and it easily beats many American made instruments. If you want excellent build, quality and tone, get the Blueridge BR1060. It's a great bang for the buck!!!!
