Bought this guitar as my playing became more frequent and the "starter" guitar I had been playing was not cutting it.
Solid wood has been sounding better and better the more it's played. Great deep color finish, nice inlays, pretty guitar.
Played right out of box, set up well from start.
Deep deemellow low end with nice sweet tones.
Installed soundhole pickup for amped acoustic play, great sound
Regular playing partner has several high end guitars (his wife is looking for a 12 step program and has hidden the check book)and was one that gave me the thumbs up as a very good upgrade in both overall quality and sound.

Blueridge Guitar bg160

A wonderful guitar for the money and those who are looking for an all wood instrument... Rosewood back and sides (not laminate), but I would caution anyone about not playing this guitar before making a purchase. The buterbean tuners are of a quailty that I would challenge, and there is considerable discussion about the quality of these tuners on other forums. I mention this only because you may have to replace them costing you additional money. If set up properly, the sound is quite good given the price.

Beautiful guitar - Raging bargain

First off, mine doesn't look like the picture. It looks better - like a Gibson J45 in the way the "black" covers the entire area of the guitar above the soundhole rather than just around the edges. But it's prettier than a J45 with its neck & headstock inlays. I recently played at a party & had three different women come up to me saying that I had "the most beautiful guitar" they'd ever seen. That's cool, but what's cooler is the way this thing sounds and plays. I bought it a little over 2 years ago, sight unseen, and was blown away the minute I unpacked and played it. It was set up perfectly and I've had no need to change or adjust anything (other than the strings) since I bought it. It's very lightweight. It's loud. It has deep bass & crystal clear treble. I also own a Larrivee D03R, an Ovation shallow-bowl acoustic-electric, a Martin 12-string, as well as many other "lesser" brand acoustics. I'm 52-years-old - have been playing for 43 years, & I don't understand when people make a blanket statement that "this guitar sounds better than that one" because it depends on what style of music one is playing that determines the appropriate guitar. But overall, if I had to choose between my excellent Larrivee or my Blueridge - I couldn't do it. It's like choosing which child you love better. The Larrivee has a better top-to-bottom balanced sound, but the Blueridge has more volume with crisper treble, punchy bass, and is a little easier to play. At any rate, I highly recommend the BG-160. With its looks, playability, and sound quality, it's damn-near impossible to beat for the price.

My BG-160 was recently left to me by my best friend. He was an Acoustic man at heart, and this guitar is exceptional. The quality of the workmanship, the crystal clear sound, the inlays, and the overall look are second to none. This is my best sounding acoustic guitar. You could pay two and a half times as much for a Gibson or a Martin and have a really nice guitar, but not any nicer than the Blueridge. As we all know, you pay a lot for the name on the headstock. This guitar is hard to beat, and it will stay with me from now on. You really owe it to yourself to play one.

awsome tone, mediocre biuld

Blueridge BG 160
The Good: This guitar has tone for days! I play with a lot of martins doing bluegrass and country and everyone is always very impressed with the sound of this guitar. Incredibly well balanced under heavey attack, and somehow manages to be both sparkly and warm when running flatpicking breaks/leads. Also sounds great as a blues box.
The Bad: The inlay on the neck is sloppy with a lot of fill around them. The tuners are rickety, to the point that I have to tighten the high e tuner every month or so. The nut is a bit sticky, I have to do the old push pull bit on 2 strings to get them tuned right, getting to be agravating. The frets are wearing out pretty fast, I've only had it 2 years and will need new frets it seems pretty soon, although I do play every day this seems a bit much. The finish is doing something crazy on the neck and headstock. Is developing cloudy spots as if there was air getting under it. Hasn't actually started to peel yet, but I am worried and it looks ugly .
Summary: As a tone geek I love this guitar and probably couldnt find a better sounding one for the money. But I will be buying a much higher end guitar as I dont believe this one will hold up to my constant playing. Course , I would'nt sell her either ;)
