The HT-5H tube guitar amp from Blackstar is ideal for studio work or practice, packing all the great tone and innovative features of the award-winning HT tube pedals into a 2-channel, footswitchable tube amp format. The patent-applied-for ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) circuit gives you infinite adjustment over the characteristics of the tone control network and takes your tone from the USA to the U.K. and anywhere in-between. So now you can effectively design your own tone and finally find "that sound in your head."

Ideal for home and studio use, the HT-5H sounds full and toneful even at the lowest volume level thanks to a brand-new tube power amplifier topology designed by Blackstar engineers. The power amp is a low-powered, push-pull design which produces the crunch and breakup characteristics of a traditional 100W output stage but at a much lower volume.

The HT-5H also has a speaker-emulated output, further enhancing its studio credentials and allowing any guitarist to get amazing tube tone straight to tape or disk, or through headphones. It also features the unique 4x12/1x12 voicing switch, allowing you to change the tonal characteristics of the emulated signal between 2 emulated cabinet types.

Add to this an effects loop with switchable level along with 16-ohm and 8-ohm speaker outputs allowing you to run the amp into an external speaker cabinet of your choice, and you have everything you need for recording or practicing.

Perfect for me ... just perfect

I bought this amp hoping for a "better" 5W amp than my original amp. The added channels, the effects loop and the headphone out made me leap. Boy was I in for a surprise. This thing is awesome! I can't stop playing it and the folks upstairs don't mind at all. Great distortion, great tonal pallet, and plenty of features. I'm using it with a Vox Blue speaker and it's simply tone-a-licious. I doubt there is a better 5W amp out there. Love this one.

Oh, and the headphone out sounds REALLY good ... surprisingly good. I'm using this amp for live jams and JamHub jams now with very consistent tones between the two. I have not gigged with it yet, but I will within a month.

I bought this amp "blind", so to speak, after years dreaming of a full featured, full stack sounding low wattage amp. I got the head version with the matching 1x10 extension cab. I was decently impressed by the sound as I got it, it wasn't until I ran it through my Genz Benz G-flex 2x12 cabinet that i was truly blown away. Damn!!!! I now see what all the hype is about. the cabinet you play through REALLY makes a difference in the feel and sound of this beauty. Even the clean channel dimed is useable now. It sort of reminds me of a blues junior in that respect. I am glad that amp companies are finally waking up and actually listening to what we consumers want. I love a 20-30 watt version too. that'd be perfect for gigging.

The only downside for me is the lack of reverb. but for such a low price, you couldn't ask for more.

And for practice and small gig's it's all you could ask for. Not being a fan of 10" speakers I am running it through my VOX Night Train Cabinet which has a Green Back 12 in it. This is a killer set up for any of the southern rock, hard rock, any rock that I play. It sounds so impressive I don't even miss the reverb. Got to use it in the studio last week and all I can say is Blackstar has built the amp I've been trying to find for the last 30 years. Hat's off to the folks at Blackstar.

Just got mine last nite--very powerful five watts with tons and tons of gain AND a clean channell! Sounds great through my Rebel cab and it's plenty loud. Can't see having a problem doing a small room gig with it. Great value, won' disappoint !

I bought this little Gem on eBay and could not be any happier with an amp. Very pleased with the construction&quality materials used! The clean channel sounds very nice and I wasn't expecting that. The overdrive is really nice for my music, i.e. Blues rock: ZZ Top, Winter, Hendrix, all the classics. It’s so easy to dial in that Classic Rock sound--at least with a Les Paul plugged in. Can be a Metal Amp with the proper Stomp Box no doubt. I was running it into my Marshall 2x12 1936 cab but recently bought the Blackstar 1X10 cab and this is a combo made in heaven. Not usually a fan of 10' speakers but they voiced this perfect for the amp and the tonal range (nice highs and good low end--which is usually lacking in 10’s) is fantastic!! You can't go wrong with this great little amp and I highly recommend it along with the matching speaker cabinet. In a tough economy this is a great price for a great product!
