This amp is a great value for the money. I use it at home, mostly with a Gibson Les Paul, and the tone it produces is beautiful. I also have a Tweed Blues Junior at home, and lets just say that its collecting dust. This amp sounds great when you dial in a nice clean tone, or crank it up for some nice crunch. It gets loud, but at the 3 watt setting I can get some overdriven tones without too much complaining from my wife :). Oh and this thing is GREAT with pedals, which is the main reason why I keep coming back to it over the Fender. This amp is just way more versatile.

Excellent Stepdown for Apartment Rig

I recently moved from a house with a modest home studio to an apt (thank you economy of late) and needed to reduce my amp volume. I now have in storage my Randall MHB50 head and B-52 slant cab w/Vintage 30s. I previously had no need for distortion pedals with that setup. I had been reading reviews for months on this Blackheart stack, along with the Epi Valve Jr. Knowing they were both designed by the same dude, I went with the Little Giant mainly for the addition of the tone stack and the more modern-looking finish. Quality and build is solid, with medium-grade components and great wood set at a great price for the budget-minded. Tolex(?)has a plastic but durable quality to it. First upgrade was replacing Chinese tubes and removal of cheesy heart emblems. Speaker does seem British voiced, so I cracked open the cab and attempted to replace stock speaker with a leftover stock B-52 which is bass-heavy. The mounting holes did not line up, but the cab quality (Korea) is great. The amp does take pedals well, my new Digitech RP-355 can pull some great tones. Although, it has taken many hours of knob-twisting so be ready for a lot of tweaking. My recent experiment with a separate Boss Metal Zone took all of but a minute to find a sweet metal sound and that was a fun relief. This amp sounds great with my multiple axes, tunings, and pu combos. Again, lots of tweaking has yielded great sounds. Fun amp stack to experiment with, I imagine for all playing styles. I haven't messed too much with the clean sound. External EQ is a must for increasing the bass. I still would like to replace the stock Eminence with a Vintage 30, but prob have to drill new holes for that. My Randall turned me into a tone snob, but the Little Giant has 80% filled the void left by my resting rig- and my attempt to keep my neighbors friendly. Being a former no-pedal guy, this tube amp DOES take pedals well if you have the time and patience to tweak. I regret my initial hesitation to purchase, and now am totally glad I snagged this stack.

I've owned this amp for over a year now. If you want tube crunch, you'll need an attenuator, bottom line.
Alot of these reviews says it takes pedals well, but who cares?? I didn't buy a tube amp to put a solid state pedal in front of it!
If you bought a tube amp for clean....shame on you!! This amp has gotten WAy too much hype for what it actually delivers

Outstanding For The Money

I have been wanting this head and cab for a long time. Every time I get the urge to get one, no one seems to have them and they are on back order; but my anniversary is coming up and my wife told me to see if I could find one. I looked all over our local area to no avail, but MF did have a few in stock. So I called and had them send it to me, and it well worth the money. I have a few AC30's, but they are to loud and big to just play around at home, and I have the Epi Valve Jr, and this makes a great companion to it. I can now just sit around the house and jam to some pristine sounds. With a few pedals, you can get just about any sound your looking for with this setup. I truly suggest getting this amp, especially at this price. I don't think you can find a better "tube" amp at this price. Granted it only has the two tubes, but it does sound great. Sure there are features missing from the high end amps, but that would increase the price and then make this a high end amp. All in All - Outstanding Amp!

I can't say enough about how pleased I am with this amp. I find myself using pedals less and less and just relying on the guitar and amp. Breaks up nicely at both 3 and 5 watts. I would recommend swapping the stock tubes out for JJs. My only complaint is that the 1/4 inch jacks on both the head and cabinet hold the cables very loosely. A tighter fit would be nice. Overall a fantastic sounding amp!!
