The 15W Blackheart Handsome Devil Tube Amp Head was designed and prototyped in a one-car garage in Austin, Texas by none other than amp savant, Pyotr Belov. The BH15H Handsome Devil amp evokes classic tube tones more than reminiscent of the great American and British amplifiers - the plug and play workhorses that laid the foundation for rock 'n' roll guitar tone starting in the '60s. Just like its predecessor and little brother, the Little Giant 5, the BHE Handsome Devil is overbuilt to last with features and components you'd expect on a hand-built, much more expensive amplifier.

Features dual power modes allowing the gods of rock to dial in responsiveness and headroom in either 15W or 7W output. Separate Master and Level controls put both awesome power and responsibility in the unwashed hands of mankind. 3 Bands of well-tuned EQ make for nearly infinite voicing. From big fat overdrive to plucky, just-about-to-squeal if you hit me a little harder grease, the Handsome Devil covers classic tube tone with as few knob turns as possible through a well thought out set of features in a tank-tough package.

As expected, you get the simple elegance and robust component specs that mark BHE's designs. From 1W, carbon-film resistors in the signal path to beefy, double sided pcb with 2 oz. traces, 16 gauge, precision folded and welded chassis and mutli-ply, classically joined cabinetry, Blackheart is as serious about quality as they are about tone.

The Wee Beastie That Could !

I bought this little beast about a month or so ago..I am using it paired up with an OLD Sears Silvertone open back cab with 2 Blackwidow speakers nestled in it's ancient confines. It sure3 amazed the heck outta me! The Silvertone Amp I have just starts to ooze a tube sound at about half volume and it gets a bit better as the volume is cranked. The BLACKHEART head gets the groove on as soon as I start it up! It seems to issue controlable sound as soon as it warms up, no matter what the volume level is. With the controls it has bestowed upon it, there seems to be no one spot that is bad. Every volume level is controlable, or so it appears to me. I have had this for only a month or two, as stated before, and I plan on using it a heck of a lot longer. It also gives me the ability to re-wire the old Silvertone..although I probably won't ever plug it back up again !

Great amp to voice for HARP!

I got a great buy on my BH-15H head w/12" speaker cab. Got it barely used from a hobbyist that had overbought on gear. Looking at specs before buying, I could see the possibilities for a decent to great harp amp at a good price. Sure enough, the Chinese tubes were WAY too bright for my purposes. I pulled all, and after some experimentaion used NOS RCA 6BQ5's, then put in triple mica GE 6201's ( milspec 12AT7's ) in the pre-amp slots. Mellow, Chicago sound with just enough gain before breakup and NO feedback!

The pentode/triode switch is terrific! At 7W, has that warm Big Walter fatness. At 15W, sounds most like Butterfield I am aware of.

I also modded the interior speaker cab to "round the corners" with insulation and installed a beam blocker. No need to flip speakers, then.

The lack of features is actually preferable for harp players, although reverb would be nice.

i've had this head for 4 or 5 days now. my solid state behringer fried and it was time for a tube. the blackheart seemed like the best deal. i'm running it through a kustom 4x12 with celestions and it sounds pretty great. what i like is that it's simple, not many frills. just what i wanted. it's got the standard bass, mid and treble frequency knobs along with presence, drive, and of course volume. i recommend running a pedal to it to acheive the real tone you want, but it's got that tube sound that solid state amps just can't get. there's also a switch to go from 7v to 15v which is a very nice feature. if you've never had a tube head, spend the extra 50-100 bucks and get this one.

I read the reviews, bought the amp, and still couldn't believe how great it sounded! It gives vintage tube tone from Stevie Ray Fender to AC/DC Gibson and hits all points in between. Overdrive will reach Sabbath levels and when you add a pedal you have the hardest Metal right at your finger tips. Many of the reviews talk about changing this or that or playing through 4/12 cabinets to fully appreciate the amp, but ignore that noise. Stock through a Blackheart 1/12 sounds killer and is loud as hell! The guys who make those claims are the same guys who mod their Marshall JCM 800's because they think it needs more punch! If you buy it, you will Love it!
