I play swing style guitar with a horn band and this amp works well with this. It provides a nice … clean …. acoustic/electric sound. The effects are suitable and I am very happy with the quality of sound. I have used the microphone connection only twice but it was sat with the environment. This is not something to be used if you want a big sound with a vocal group … for that get a PA system … but for one or two people with a guitar it does well in quiet, listening settings

I currently own both the ACX900 and the ACX1800. I bought the 1800 because of the extra power output and the adjustable parameters for the effects and also the compressor. I felt very let down by this amp last week when I gigged with it for the first time. When I set up before we got started, I expected to use the 1800 because I sing lead and play lead guitar in a 3 person acoustic trio. I was to let our backup singer use my old 900 and the other guy has a 900 as well. Side by side comparisons lift me shocked at how different these amps are from each other. The 1800 lacked the volume big time and the fullness and bass response were nill. The vocals distort much, much too easily. The compressor works well but nothing could even bring this amp close to the quality of the lower wattage ACX900. I decided to use the 900 for myself at the last minute and set up the 1800 for our female backup singer so the vocals wouldn't distort much but we got a lot of complaints that nobody could hear her. The instrument channel sounds a little better in my opinion on the 1800 but neither channel will give you anywhere near the volume or bass response as the 900. I just purchased another 900 for this weekend's gig and will be returning the 1800.

This thing is one clean machine. I use it with my top quality Gibson's & and other top of the line acoustic's in room from 75 to 175 seating cap. And it fills the room nicely. I was worried about a good bass end with such small speakers, but the closed back does the job. I do place the amp on an amp stand to get it off the floor and project into the room. There's no sense trying to play at someones feet. This is not a muscle amp, but it is a true projection of the instrument that your putting into it. When I need more kick for opening act slots and larger venues,I do use the direct line outs into the main sound system and use the amp as a monitor. I set my level and tone then give it to the soundman. No buzz or hum. Just a clean signal to the board. I'm about to purchase the second one for each side on the stage.

Great price, but may not be for everyone.

This amp has all the features that one could ask for; i.e. 16 adjustable effects on both channels, and tuner mode that silences the amp, and a two button foot pedal to control each channel. The sound is dead on, except when I turned it to the maximum to hear the full power, I got a slight buzz from the feedback suppression. I know that it is not as loud as 180 watts is expected to be. This amp is more like 60 to 80 watts for each channel. I had a Behringer GX112 Blue Devil that was 60 watts and this amp is comparable to that. I think the mistake is made when consumers believe that the instrument channel is 180 watts, which it is clearly not. This amp is great for someone playing a small cafe, quiet bookstore, or a bedroom, but do not expect to go on tour with an inexpensive PA. Play it before you buy.

I have been using this amp since summer 2007 and I have to say it's performance has been incredible. I know it's called ultracoustic but acoustic or electric or my 6 and 12 strings I mike with a condenser mike and pre-amp the sound is awesome. The fx's are great and it has plenty of watts for playing club gigs. It is great not having to lug a pa system around. The craftsmanship and attention to detail have made me a lifetime Behringer customer. If you need a good, solid, versatile amp, buy this one you won't be dissapointed.
