The ST-60A has a 100% all-tube signal path that combines Sovtek 6L6 power tubes with 12AX7 preamp tubes for solid tube tone and classic breakup. Capable of monstrous gain, extreme distortion, and sparkling clean tones through 2 channels. The Clean and Overdrive channels have their own sets of volume and EQ controls (3-band bass, mid, and treble), with 2 Gain knobs and an interactive Contour control (Gain 2) on the Overdrive channel.

You can further shape your tone by selecting 3 rectifier settings. The solid-state setting delivers the tightest low-end definition and fastest attack. Tube A gives you a vintage attack and feel with the warmest sound. Tube AB1 is in-between the first two: punchy, warm sound with more definition than Tube A. Roadworthy 13-ply Baltic birch construction protects that circuit path from damage so you get reliable performance.

I can tell you, only having had this amp for a few weeks I am very happy with my purchase. It has a great amount of gain right from the head. And some pretty cool tonal possibilities. The extra 2+1 configuration lends to great versatility in sound as well.

I'm driving two Carvin 2x12 cabs, and it seems plenty loud enough to me to do clubs or smaller venues.

The thing I like most about it is it isn't a Boogie retread or a knock off Marshal. I think it really does have a tone its own. But could be described as an amalgam of both those amps.

Having had a Carvin X-100b in the past I can say this amp doesn't feel quite as solid as that, or the Boogies or Marshals I've used in the past, for that matter. But if your cool with it I don't see why it shouldn't last you a great while.

Remember 70-80 % of the tone comes from your fingers, so don't expect this to be a miracle worker if you have sloppy technique. But if you're looking for some tonal range on a budget, this amp is for you.

The most affordable way to go tube!

I was skeptical at first, but after gigging with my b-52 for a month now I have to say I am all out impressed. Soundguys at the shows we play are asking about it - they have never heard an amp that sounds this good and is not from Marshall or Mesa. It has teriffic sustain, wonderful levels of distortion (*NOTE* I always run my guitar through a Rocktron Austin Gold overdrive pedal) and killer tone. Switching between the three types of rectification has a minor effect on the overall tone and behavior of the amp, but it is noticeable. I leave the amp in solid state rectification most of the time to keep the 'tingy' sound that you find in Mesa amps. The construction is bomb proof, the footswitch is great, and the power is awesome. I have never even taken the amp above 5 on the master volume dial and I run it through a 2x12" Celestion cabinet. All in all, it is an affordable way to jump into an all tube guitar head, and it sounds dynamite.
