Great guitar

Having played for awhile now, I've gone through a few guitars. I headed out to a local music store, who had gotten a few Mockingbirds in recently, expecting to try a Washburn and not really loving it. However, I ended up looking at a Special X Mockingbird and, seeing a great price, thought I'd try it. It ended up being ~560 in the end, as it was a factor b-stock (it has 3 chips of paint missing, but they aren't visible from off-stage). All in all, it's done what I need. The neck took getting used to at first, but the only real issue I've ever had is how BC Rich does most of their strap buttons: on the back. It took me awhile to find a strap (eventually, had one custom made) that would make playing the guitar comfortable. In the end, I love the guitar and it's become my main guitar. I'm friends with a few other professional musicians in the area, and I've gotten compliments from them on it as well.

I was convinced that I would never own or play a B.C. Rich guitar. I just thought that they were flashy. I saw this at the music shop that I work at, and I was impressed by the craftsmanship of this guitar. So, as what I do with every new guitar that comes in, I picked it up and tried it out. Boy was i blown away!! The damn thing is so comfortable to play, it's almost like spooning the thing. Everything about this guitar is perfect, in my opinion. And as everyone says, the picture doesn't do this guitar justice. I have the cherry sunburst model. So I just had to buy it. You will not regret getting this guitar.

Great axe for simple rocking

Let me get my cons out of the way first. Yes it would have been a nice bonus to have a tremo, EMG pups, 24 frets, a hardshell case and top notch electronics. I'm not super thrilled about the cloud inlays either. Finally getting an absolutely perfect setup will require some attention but came pretty darn close out of the box.

But if you can find this guy on deep sale, what you'll get is an extremely smooth, fun to play, great sounding, EASY, versatile axe for riffage. The finish is top shelf and none of the internet pix do it justice. If you're not afraid of setting your guitar up, you'll be greeted with one of the smoothest straight necks I've ever played. The hardware keeps the axe in tune despite wailing and I'd feel confident taking her on the road as a main. The rockfields are actually pretty hot so the better your grounding, the less noise especially on the neck pup. Darn near perfectly balanced sitting down and standing up. Not as heavy as an LP. Oh yeah and that classic bird body and BCR headstock is the best!!

Make sure when you're ready get an official case for this axe though. Doesn't play well with the strat/tele or more extreme BCR cases.

Oh my freaking God, you have to be out of your mind not to own one of these.

For a while, I played an SG and I loved it. But I saw this guitar on the B.C. Rich website and decided that I had to try it.

I tried it out at a store in Mankato and decided that I had to have it.

Pinch harmonics are definately easier in a mockingbird, the sound is clearer, and its just great over all. you'd have to play it to believe it.

this guitar is a good guitar for any kind of metal. it has great action, sustain, and feel. ok now for the cons. the pick ups will need to be replaced with emgs and new strings then the stock strings. this version is the lesser one. the better one (that i think everyone should buy) has a floyd on it and that makes it that much more metal. look on the bc rich website for more info about it.
