Features a nato mahogany body with maple neck-through construction. With cutting scalloped lines, vertebrae inlay, a twin rail pickup in the neck and a HOT Rockfield Fat Ass pickup in the bridge the Draco looks and sounds just plain mean.

Neck-Through Construction
Neck-Through construction is used on the Draco V because it provides the best possible sustain, resonance, comfort and access to higher frets. Neck-through has long been considered the premium construction method for high-end guitars. This construction starts with a long piece (or pieces) of premium North American maple. That piece runs from the tip of the headstock to the strap button on the opposite end of the guitar. This means that the headstock, fingerboard, pickups and bridge all are mounted to this single sound foundation. Sonically it is a difference you can hear. The neck-through construction also allows deeper cutaways, providing comfort no bolt-on or set-neck could offer.

Rockfield Pickups - Fat Ass and Twin Rail
Bridge Pickup - Fat Ass
Aggressive in its own right, the Rockfield Fat Ass bridge pickup was designed for a specific group players in mind: those with crazy, super acrobatic playing styles. The ones at the gig that make everything look so effortless and easy. As you watch in amazement you say, "Man I need to practice" or, "That's it, man, I quit!" This pickup's custom designed bobbins house larger pole pieces that help transfer string vibration from pulls, bends and leads so the user gets less tonal drop off, better articulation and note definition. The Rockfield Fat Ass has a well balanced overall tone that is mean and bold with major sustain, huge bottom end and cutting mids and highs that jump out at you. Each note is full and rings true from this pickup while you take advantage of a look that is just plain mean and in your face.

Neck Pickup
Great pickup for Bridge or neck but designed to complement the Fat Ass bridge pickup in the neck position. This twin rail pickup, like the bridge position Fat Ass has a full round tone that helps transfer string vibration from pulls, bends and leads so the user gets less tonal drop off and better articulation and note definition. This is made possible by the custom designed bobbins that house the larger pole pieces. Custom wound with a little less bite but still just as aggressive, this pickup has great balance and sustain with a huge low end response and mids and highs that scream and cut for a tone that is truly inspiring.

Flat Top
The Draco V is constructed with a flat top. The flat top styling gives a bold and pristine look to the edge of the instrument's shape. The binding on a flat top finishes off the edge cleanly and gives a sleek and clean look to the instrument.

Radical Styling but still a decent axe

Like I am sure everyone that bought one of these guitars did so because they were attracted to its radical design. Luckily it turns out to not be just a looker. It is likely that the neck through contruction is what gives it good sustain since it has such little body wood. The amount of sustain happily surprised me. The Neck Dual Blade pup sounds good for high notes but the Bridge Rockfield pup has to go, I put in a Bare Knuckles Miracle Man other high output pups would also work fine the Rockfield just doesnt have enough crunch for the sort of playing this guitar is made to do. Someone commented the neck was thick? No it is not. It does not come with fret markers however so be aware of that, you may want to add some when you get it if you need them. It is better than other BC Rich guitars I have played before and it plays pretty nice and sounds pretty good now so if you like it and know about the fretboard markers and pickup issues you are good to go.

Good for a BC Rich

I just bought this guitar, here is the rundown. It is well constructed and set up pretty well from the factory, though I am going to bump up the strings to 10's as they are a bit too slinky for me, no big deal, I plan to have a bone or graphite nut installed during set up anyway. Like most V guitars it is lightweight so that is an advantage for some that get tired with playing for long periods of time standing up. It is not the ultimate guitar to play sitting down but it is possible you just have to put a serrated part instead of a pointy part or it will poke your ribs, so you just adjust. I dont miss the tone controls on it since passive tone controls on guitars I have found pretty useless anyway. The one knob that does it all, volume, which I always have turned up all the way, and the push pull for pickup selection doesnt bother me but could bother some, it depends on the individual. The bridge pup is nothing special though it is pretty clear. But for agressive styles like metal which is obviously what one would buy a guitar like this for a change to either an active or what I am installing a Bare Knuckles Miracle Man will make it sound like you want. The neck pup on the other hand was a huge surprise, it sounds pretty nice and has incredible sustain, it keeps a note ringing for an amazing amount of time. Since it is similar in design to the Seymore Duncan hot rails I was going to swap it out if it was not great but I am not going to do that which says a lot for that neck pup. The case I got with it from BC Rich is a coffin case and it has its pros and cons, cons are that it is huge and while it is well constructed it is not tough like a true hardshell case, the outside material is more like what a typical acoustic case is made of. The inside however is great, that big size allows for two nice big compartments and the interior lining is plush and really nice, so while it is big at least it protects the unique guitar and its pointy ends plus could hold multiple effects pedals or long cords or whatever in the two nice big compartments, it also looks very nice and detailed inside. If you want a V guitar and you like the design and know you will want to swap out the bridge pup then it does the job with a thin neck shape good for speed and a nice neck pup. You will have to deal with the pointy parts if you want this radical design but I am mostly a lazy sit down player and as I said you just have to position the guitar where a point is not digging in to your ribs and it is fine. I got this guitar because of its unique design and that it was a neck through. It is not my best guitar or my worst it is sort of middle of the road. It has a cool look and a cool case but otherwise is just a guitar with a very nice neck pup and a lack luster bridge pup. The one thing to keep in mine is that it has no fretboard markers, just little dots on the side, this may or may not be an issue for you. If it is plan on spending another 100 bucks to have fretboard markers installed. Basically it is just good enough for me not to return it and it is a very unique shape no doubt about that and quality is decent, keep that neck pup and get a good bridge pup and you will probably be happy.

Unbelievable!!! The look itself says everything on this V. The balance of the guitar is right on, it is almost modled to you the second you strap this V on. The pickup selection is a lil tricky at first tho but quiet usefull in playing. The action on this V is insane. Fast, smooth and very comfortable as well as responsive. Sound delivery is fierce but yet *clean* very melodic. The fighter jet of guitars....The name is perfect, it is a dragon you have to play one.
