The B.C. Rich ASM Pro is an electric guitar with EMG pickups, a Floyd Rose Original tremolo and neck through construction. The ASM Pro is one serious professional level guitar! Other great features include Grover tuners and an ebony fretboard.
Neck-Through Construction
B.C. Rich is known as one of the pioneers in neck through construction. They use it on many of their guitars, because it provides the best possible sustain, resonance, comfort and access to higher frets. Neck-through has long been considered the premium construction method for high-end guitars. This construction starts with a long piece (or pieces) of premium North American maple. That piece runs from the tip of the headstock to the strap button on the opposite end of the guitar. This means that the headstock, fingerboard, pickups and bridge all are mounted to this single sound foundation. Sonically it is a difference you can hear. The neck-through construction also allows more of the body and neck to be cut away at the neck joint, which provides comfort no bolt-on or set-neck could offer. You will find the neck through feature on all top of the line B.C. Rich models.
EMG-81 (bridge position)
The EMG-81 is a high output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock and roll, or overdriving your amp, there's a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing. If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a rock pickup, the EMG-81 is the one.
EMG-85 (neck position)
Although the EMG-85 has more measurable output than the 81, its frequency response and string interface are different. The 85 uses two Alnico magnet loaded coils with a wide aperture to maintain a beefy low end and a fatter top end. Because of a more natural tone, it works great as a rhythm and blues pickup because it has loads of output but isn't muddy.
The Assassin was introduced in 1986. It was a double cutaway that was a departure for the odd shaped models that B.C. Rich was known for up until that time. In 1986, there were other double cutaways that B.C. Rich began making with various headstocks, pickup configurations, controls and finishes. The ASM model was one of these double cutaways but was introduced much later. There was an ASM 1 and ASM 2, with slightly different shapes and point shapes, but the more pointed and sleek model eventually settled in as the standard ASM shape. The Outlaw originally had holes drilled in the upper bout, but later models were more traditional looking, they were mostly bolt on necks like most of the double cutaway B.C. Rich guitars.

This is my second review of this axe. After owning it now for six months I still can't put it down. My Gibson LP Standard not EPI version is actually sitting around and catching dust. This guitar is unbeliveable. The craftsmanship is top notch. Not something that you would expect out of Korea. After doing a lot of research and even talking with Ed Roman guitars, it's the closest thig you can get to the custom shop without having to shell out the big bucks. EMG's, Govers, Neck thru, real floyd not licensed, ebony fret board, not rosewood. Your cheaper moels use rosewood for the fret board because it's cheaper. Ebony was made for metal except for the the LP. I've dive bombed and this thing stays completly in tune. It will nail every sound out their, from the stones to priest and so on. I never expected such quality to come from Korea. I mean it's flawless. When you roll back the volume it cleans up extremley well. I own a LP Standard, ASM PRO, Strat, and a Taylor 310ce. For a while BC Rich had a bad name, but keep in mind all your metal guys from the 80's used them, and for some reason in the 90's they weren't top notch unless you got a custom shop, yea they got some wild designs, but this by far blows awat it's competition including ESP, Jackson, and so forth. You can't go rwong with this investment. By the way most of think that these reviews are written by GC or MF. Just want to let you guys know that I am not affiliated with them whatsoever. Again this is the best axe that BC has made in a long time. If it were stolen I would buy another one without hesitation. Where else can you get an axe with all the components described above. The Tuners, Rose and EMG's alone would easily cost about 500 bucks alone not mentioning the fret board. Buy it you woun't be disappointed. The only down fall is that it only comes in 2 colors.

1st off, I am not one to give something a 5 unless I am THOROUGHLY impressed. That being said, the only reason this doesn't get a 5 is because there are no coil taps. Other than that, the ASM pro gives you a 24 fret ebony fretboard, neck through design, active EMG pickups, an ORIGINAL FL trem, and grover tuners...I DARE you to find a guitar with these features for the same price. Trust me, I looked for a month. Sent back a jackson dkmg that was ok, but not what I had hoped for. This guitar is AMAZING! The matte finish on the back of the neck is lightning fast. The neck is Ibanezish in thickness and plays as good as prestige RGs Ive played, maybe better. The EMGs are fantastic and pickup the nuances of your playing 100%. Even when cranked to max with my metal muff (also a sick product) maintains amazing clarity. I won't lie, I have beat the floyd the last couple days (not literally lol) and it stays in near perfect tune after much abuse. I have been playing 15 years and have played alot of axes, and this is the smoothest tone machine I have ever laid my hands on. BTW, this entire guitar has binding, you cannot see it in the pictures, but it is 100% binded. If you are looking for a top quality professional superstrat guitar, there is no other that even touches this, in this price range or any for that matter. Only thing close is a Michael Kelly Hex (also amazing, but hard to find). Highly recommend this guitar.

Well i took about 2 months to get. All I can say is that I hae never bought a axe sight unsen much less not played. Live EMG's, Original FR not lice. Grover tuners, neck thru. I also hae a LP Standard USA, Taylor 310ce. I have to admit for a guitar produced in Korea it rivals the USA built. No fret buzz, killer action. I will put it up agaist any USA axe. I had a friend come over the other day to give it a go, and he was astonished with the quality and sound. He could not believe it was a Korean made guitar. I always wanted a BC but the USA made was a little out of my price range to the tune of 3500.00. All I can say Is amazing. It nail priest, metallica, and especially the crue. You can't go wrong with this The finish is flawless. There are no flaws at all. If you are looking for a metal guitar this is it. BTW one thing this does that my LP doesnt is that when you roll the volume back it cleans up very nicely unlike when your oll the vol back on the standard it still has all the distortion. Forget all the BS you heard abou the BC 's. Maybe on the lower end moedels yea, but nor on the ASM PRO.

The ASM Pro is simply a great guitar for its price range. The EMGS sound great on every setting, the original Floyd Rose stays in tune pretty well even after wailing on it. The neck is smooth and fast, and it's extremely easy to reach the upper register on the neck with the neck-through design. Also, I own the model with the Satin Grey finish and you can't see the detail from the pictures provided, but there's a nice black trim around the edge of the body. Beautiful guitar worth every penny.

I did alot of research, and I am very OCD,and very indecisive. This is quite possibly the best axe in this price range period. EMG 81/85,ebony fretboard, neck thru construction, original floyd, awesome inlays, beautiful fully bound body and neck, wicked satin finish,(I got the black one of course). Very solid built guitar. I will be keeping this one. Next is going to be the Jr. V Deluxe, same features, just a V body. I just went with the ASM pro because of being to sit down with it easier, and the V is pretty heavy. But I guess if it wasn't,you wouldn't get that killer tone. They raised the price on these at the end of Sept, better get one before they realize they didn't raise it enough.
