I tried this axe at a Sam Ash near my school, and I have to say that this guitar's quality and price can't be beat by anything else. The sound is excellent; it is rich, full and perfectly balanced, even when plugged into an amp. It is also very comfortable & easy to play. The action is perfect, and I have no trouble getting to higher frets. The AE-128 is a giutar I wuold recommend to any player, beginner or pro.

The Honeyburst that i received while in iraq was absolutely gorgeous. when i picked it up, tuned it and started playing i then found that this guitar has dead spots on the second and thrid fret with the low e and a string. So now i am selling it for a profit and will buy a guitar that may be more suited to my honkey tonk stepping down.

As I type this I am holding it in my lap, restraining myself from playing. I enjoy it that much. It is my first acoustic, and I use it all the time and take classes at my performing arts school. I suggest this to any new acoustic player.

Good Beginner Guitar

I have had my AE128 for a 1 1/2 years now. It is my first learning guitar. I have since moved on, to buy a couple of nice solid body electrics(Parker and Hagstrom). I have the Honey Burst finish. The finish on mine looks like it was applied with a comb. Somebody at Applause Q.C. must have been asleep, when this one came down the line. Set up and action is factory stock which suits me just fine. Amping this guitar up produces alot of hard to control feedback. I gave up and just play it acoustic only now. After trying several different brands and guages of strings. I got a set of Martin SP Customs, and wow this thing really sings pretty now. Also installed a "standing ovation stabilizer" on the back from Great Scott Mfg. Great product. Now the guitar stays in the perfect playing position, standing or sitting. So in closing, this is a good beginner guitar. But I just can't imagine a experienced pro player having any use for it.

Took delivery of my new AE128 yesterday and I am already in love with this guitar. I had to retire my Applause AE38 due to fret wear (fifteen years). I could not have found a more perfect replacement. Once again Applause has produced a real winner at an unbelievable price. Bass tones are booming and resonant and this guitar can sing in the high register, even with factory strings and action, which I will upgrade immediately. A beauty, too. It looks almost identical with my AE38, but the sound is vastly better on the AE128. A terrific guitar at any price.
