Features 4.5 - because it doesnt a mid shaper but come to think of it, it might just make things complicated because with what it has, it does the job amazingly well.

Quality 3.5 - ive read plenty of reviews and just like most of them, the XLR and guitar inputs are so easily damaged. The switch also doesnt last that long, perhaps it wasnt really meant to be switched off because after you activate it and find your sweet spot, you wouldnt want to switch it off.

Value 4.5 - Its become cheaper so compared to other alternatives, its $150 well spent. It wouldnt make a really crappy guitar sound like a thousand dollars but if youre a gigging musician and cannot afford putting an expensive taylor or martin through the daily abuses of gigging, might as well get a decent yamaha or takamine that is 1/3 of the price (CPX700/900) and get the Aphex. Yould be a happy man.

Overall 4.0 - Its a perfect tool only if they made it more tough. I use it with all my guitars, acoustic or electric, it does the job beautifully. I cannot say how much it will improve your sound so if youre up to it, try it and hear for yourself. Im sure you wont come out of that store without one.

I use this on an Ovation Adamas guitar plugged into a Genz Benz amp. It definitely makes the bass stand out (without being too muddy) and the treble sparkle (without being tinny). The price is now competitive. More clarity than the BBE Sonic Stomp. The power switch seems faulty after 6 months, but Aphex is going to replace the unit under warranty. I definitely don't want to play amplified without my Aphex.

I play out most weekends using a Martin with an undersaddle pickup. I bought this unit and it does help to define the sound a bit. But for my guitar its not a dramatic improvement. It can cause feedback on occasion. I hear basically NO difference in its sound when adjusting the knobs. its either on or off. I think it would probably help really bad sounding guitars come to life a bit but its not a must have piece of gear. The quest for a great acoustic live sound continues......

I run everything in my rig through this pedal. I'm not talking about just my acoustic i use this baby for my electric too. I turn the highs down to about 10 o clock and the bass all the way up to 5 o clock and this baby gives my guitar tone the bassy crunch you need to for that metal chunk! This baby is awesome for acoustics too, which is why I bought it, but now I run my whole rig through it. It takes your sound thats already there and gives it that nice warm tone! This baby is definitely my secret weapon!

I have had many accoustic guitars, electric and not. Lately I have been using a Yamaha FG-345 from 1970. What a sound, however the pickup that I purchased really didn't do the sound justice. So instead of buying a Taylor or a Martin I just bought this ugly, green, box. I must say that I haven't been this amazed in a long time. If your accoustic instrument lacks buy this Exciter, you wont regret it.
