This amp is incredible. It has a great tone on both channels. I play in a loud rock band. unfortunately the high gain channel is not loud enough at the 50 watts to cut through with my band. However the cleaner channel does. When cranked this channel as well yields an awesome sound also. This amp really reminds me of an orange but at a 3rd of the price.

Monster tone amp

This is a monster tone amp, with a fat rich sound and great reverb. I use to own a Ampeg Rocket in the 60s, traded it off have owned harmony, Gibson Peaveys, Fender, Sunn, GKs, Vox and now two Marshalls amps, but the Ampeg R212R is quickly becoming my all round amp of choice. It has the all controls you need on top where they belong. And the two Ampeg 12" speakers really blast out the amazing tube sound.

I've owned an R-212R now for about 10 months and I use it almost every day. It's a great sounding amp, though paradoxically, not quite the sound I am looking for myself. Very smooth tone, very well built. This is a good amp and I'd put it's sound up against any other in it's category. I also run a bass through it occasionally and that sounds pretty sweet, too.

This is the third time I have tried to write a review.There is not enough said about this Amp. I have used every Major Amp on the market and some that are not. I run this amp through a Korg floor pandora and play a hot rod custom shop Strat. Oh my %^&* what a sound. As the lead guitarist for our band I can say TONE and then TONE. It will run 4 twelves along with the two it comes with. With an adapter snapped on the speakers and then the power is enormous. My Marshall pales at the tone this little amp can produce. If it catches one watch out Marshall.

I bought mine and was a bit skeptical. Until I got it home and plugged in and was blown away by the tone. Rich fat vintage tone, better than my Pro-reverb or Vibrolux that gets better the more you turn it up. It's so addictive you want to play it all the time. The distortion channel has a bit of a mushy bottom end if you push the gain too far but for solo work it sings! This is an awesome amp and a steal at this price! It looks vintage, sounds vintage, what more could anyone possibly want? I would gladly buy another if mine became lost.
