See-Through, with Case

The Ampeg Dan Armstrong Plexi Guitar features a clear acrylic polymer body and interchangeable pickups. And no, this is not your average guitar. The pickups include 1 single-blade Rock Treble and 1 dual-blade Sustain Treble. In addition to their "swap-ability," they are supported tonally by a rosewood bridge with compensated brass saddles and a hard maple neck. Grover nickel die-cast tuners partner with the bridge for superb intonation, and a 3-way tone circuit gives you a clear view of your options.

In 1969, Ampeg and guitar super-guru Dan Armstrong set about revolutionizing the electric guitar. What came next was "clearly" innovative, technologically advanced and well, clear! The Rolling Stones took the stage with Keith Richards sporting the 'See Through' guitar and Bill Wyman playing the companion bass. The legend was born.

Great looks Okay Sound

This is a great looking guitar I have been wanting sinece 1970. But now Must desire is thwarted by the very ordinary sound from it and the hefty price. I realize why Keith Richards dose not showcase this guitar anymore. I want to say something good about this guitar but I can only recommend a Strat deluxe of a Gibson studio as both better guitars.sorry

I bought this guitar without ever playing one, but I've always been interested in them. I am very impressed with the quality of this guitar, the fit and finish is excellent. I play in a 3 piece group (guitar, keyboard, drums) and mainly use a PRS Santana, I used the ADA6 during a set in January playing "Bad to the Bone" and the crowd went crazy! This guitar has a killer distortion sound that nails ZZ Top etc. The more I play it the more I like it. It will never replace my PRS but it gives me some different sounds to work with and the neck is very easy to play. I recommend this guitar highly!

The Greatest Rock 'n Roll Guitar In The World!!!

I have two of these, a 1970 original and the new re-issue. The Ampeg Dan Armstrong is the ultimate electric guitar, period. The new re-issue is perfect, and recreates the original guitar in stunning detail. In fact, when I bought mine, I felt like what one must have experienced back in 1969 buying one of these! For a real Rolling Stones type Rock 'n Roll tone, these guitars cannot be beaten. They also do other styles really well. Sonically, there's a lot going here, very versatile and totally cool vibe, appearance, sound and playability. Get one now, you will not regret it!!!

Pickup Problem

Bought this because I'm a Keith Richards fan and had to have it. Guitar came set up well with the exception of the single coil pickup. Above the 12th fret it just buzzes out and I don't know how to adjust it. Slap the humbucker in problem solved: awesome raw tone great for rythym and typical KR riffs. Will take to tech to get the single coil problem fixed. Overall happy with it though because the humbucker is sweet.
