First electric-acoustic

My roommate works at a guitar shop and he recommended this if I was looking for a nice electric-acoustic. He plays a Taylor 500 series which is obviously much nicer. However, I would place this guitar with the best of them simply for the value. It plays like a beauty, and has great action.

Great Guitar

I have owned this guitar for about three years. I play it daily. I have always liked the Alvarez brand but cannot afford the more expensive models and being a non-professional cannot really see spending the big dollars. But this guitar sounds and plays great. I play contemporary Christian music at my church and I am pleased with the sound of this instrument. The only short fall is the pre-amp/battery replacement. I am thinking about replacing with a better pre-amp like one with the built in tuner. Overall I would recommend this model to anyone who wants a great guitar but is on a budget.

After 3 years...

This is really a good, solid instrument. It won't sound like a Taylor because it isn't a Taylor. With the right strings it has a well-balanced tone, easy action, and holds a tuning quite well.

Yes, changing the battery is a pain, but don't unscrew the preamp for this. I play unplugged more often than not, so I just replace the battery whenever I restring.

The bad news: After almost 3 years my preamp completely died.

The good news: 1 call to Alvarez's parts department (call the number on the contact page of Alvarez's site) and they immediately shipped out a free replacement preamp (5 year parts warranty). I installed it in 10 minutes and everything is as good as new.

Although this is my sister's guitar, I play it more than she does. It's a great beginner's guitar but it also is pleasing for me to play. The tuners are cheap but other than that it is great. The sound continues to impresses me.

Amazing guitar!!

I've had this guitar since I was in 5th grade (I'm in 8th now). This guitar is my 1st guitar (out of 3) and is probably my favorite. The tones it projects are amazing and let me do acoustic versions of songs by artists anywhere from Ac-Dc to Switchfoot! I actually played this at a friends party, and before I actually started playing I got paid just because it looked nice and sounded nice when I was tuning. My mom dropped this once and it landed on the neck, and it still is my favorite. Long story short, get this guitar! It's good for beginners to experts. By the way, I plan on playing this at my bands next gig and we play light Christian rock.
