Okay. I've basically always played electric guitar. But then I decided to buy an acoustic for my songwriting. I went to a local guitar place and I asked if he recomended anything. And he handed me this beauty. Once I started playing it, I fell in love with it. I love the warm sound it brings. So since I didnt have the money then, I didnt buy it right away. As soon as I got enough money for a decent guitar, I went another guitar place and asked what he recomended. He handed me the same exact guitar. I recognized it's gorgeous sound and beautiful look. This is a great guitar with a built in tuner which is always helpful. I'm excited to make memories with this guitar!
Great Guitar!

I've been playing the guitar for 38 years. I'm not a performing musician but I have owned several guitars over the years and this one is absolutely fantastic! While serving in Afghanistan I decided that there was no way I could make it for 14 months without having a guitar to relieve the stress. I decided on the AD70SC and when it arrived (quickly and in perfect condition thanks to Musician's Friend) I was absolutely astounded at the full sound that the Rosewood body provided. I've not had the chance to plug it in yet but if it sounds half as good plugged in as it does unplugged, it'll be fantastic. The quality is great and as soon as you pick it up you can tell it's a solid well made instrument. I'm not sure how Alvarez does it but a comparable guitar of any other brand would cost $1000. Buy one and I'm sure you'll be impressed.

When I first Bought this guitar I was a little disappointed because I was looking for a dark sounding tone that comes with Mahogany. However, I was unaware that what I had Purchased was Indian rosewood.
Over time it grew on me and I absolutely LOVE the tone now. The electronics In this thing are absolutely AMAZING. Neck is great, and the tuning machines work perfect. The tone gets better with age. For consistency I recommend getting a truss rod adjustment to compete with the weather change.
It sounds as good, if not, better than some Taylor's I've played.
very good guitar, great value

Long story short: The Alvarez AD70SC is a sweet guitar. Mine arrived three weeks ago and I have been pleased with its performance, unplugged or plugged in. Besides jamming at home by myself and with friends, I have performed with it at an outdoor party as part of an acoustic duo (with a line through the PA) and with a rock band in outdoor and indoor settings (using a Peavey Classic 50 amp outdoors and the PA indoors). For me, an intermediate guitar player (mostly rhythm)just starting out doing public gigs, the guitar delivered in all situations. I am now shopping for an acoustic amp to use at gigs--the Behringer Ultracoustic ACX450 most likely.
More details: I played a Takamine G330 dreadnought for 15 years before I wanted an upgrade to an electric-acoustic, solid body top, and cutaway. The AD70SC is an excellent upgrade from the guitar I was playing. If you are looking for a similar upgrade, the AD70SC won't let you down. And until you can save up for a decent Martin (not the plastic-sided and backed DX-1), this is a great guitar. I spent a lot of time at music stores before deciding on this guitar, and I found it better than other guitars of similar and even slightly higher prices.
One caveat: the AD70SC may not be as loud as some comparable guitars. My friend's Fender acoustic is much louder when plugged in. However, I would rather have sweet tone and sound than the loudness, and this guitar has a great sound which will only improve with age.
Note: I am new to acoustic amplification and public performing, so I may not have everything dialed in right. And remember, I have not actually heard this guitar through a good acoustic amp.
I highly recommend this guitar!! The fit, finish, and action are perfect. The thin neck is easy to play. Buy it now.
too good to be true

I bought this guitar recently and I am amazed. An acoustic guitar under a grand (well under) that has some actual low end. Put some 80 20s on there bring out a little contrasted brights, and its perfect. The pickup is tricked out. eq control, piezo and aux blending. 20 db boost or cut. The usual master volume. a frequency notch control, and a frequency control nob for the mid boost is an excellent and unique addition. It even has the tuner, which is more accurate than the korg I've had for years.
the tone makes this guitar ideal for recording, perhaps I got an exceptionally good one, but it rivals my friends 70s d 18. I may even prefer it for my music, the martin sounds better on finger picking stuff and arpeggio type lines. And the pickup and preamp make it unrivaled for live sound for an off the line dred. get one. you'll find out why no one has anything bad to say about an alvarez AD series.
