Rear Right-facing Side Powersupply

The Akai E2 Headrush Delay/Looper Pedal picks up where the award-winning E1 left off. This stompbox brings together 16-bit digital delay with times from 0.5ms to an astonishing 35 seconds, tape echo simulations with 4 separate heads, and a looping recorder in one convenient effects pedal.

In addition to offering digital and analog-type delay sounds, user-selectable delay options allow for maximum control of signal output. There are several realtime interval and level adjustment selections as well as feedback level for repeats.

Headrush can also simulate a 4-head analog tape echo machine and it is possible to set the spacing between the virtual heads to create complex multiple delays and repeats. The outputs of each of the virtual heads appear on individual outputs for ultimate flexibility when used with an external mixing console.

The looping mode allows you to record and overdub layer after layer of sound in real time making Headrush an unbelievable live performance tool.

Depending upon which mode is selected, the left switch controls the on/off and play/stop functions while the right switch sets the tap delay time or recording and overdub options. The LED display indicates which effect is in use and blinks in time showing the delay time selected.

Akai E2 Headrush Delay/Looper Pedal Features:

  • 16-bit digital delay
  • 0.5ms to 35 seconds delay times
  • 4-head tape echo simulation
  • Looping recorder: up to 35 seconds
  • Simulated analog delay sound
  • Adjustable repeat times
  • Mix wet and dry signals to output
  • Realtime delay control

The Headrush is a beast of a delay pedal . . . pedal . . . pedal . . . pedal. You'll love it; so don't delay-order now . . . now . . . now . . . now . . . now.

I love this pedal. Bought it after seeing Mike Doughty and KT Tunstall use it in their live rigs. Much better performance pedal than the Boss RC20XL.

About 6 months into using it, the "PLAY" button began to intermittently not trigger. This if you don't hit PLAY, your recording will start playing after about 20-30 seconds, with no way to just cancel it. Embarrassing!

Dealing with Akai service is a nightmare, it is all done by 3rd party companies that seem to be motivated to NOT work on warrantied items. Very rude.

Now my Headrush's delay times and feedback are not working properly. I can't crank the feedback up or it will stall out and the lowest end of the delay knob adjustment is not as fast as it used to be. Also, the unit now turns off intermittenly in the middle of looping. So I'm probably looking at a new circuit board which is probably too pricey.

I should have gotten the extended warranty on this if I knew how poor Akai's service was.

On he plus side, I love how this pedal works and sounds and it has great headroom for using in my Mesa-Boogie's FX loop.

I've had one of the original Headrushes for about 5 years. It's a beautiful sounding pedal which is why I like it. Hiss? Haven't had a problem but I use it for live work so it's not as important as recording. The main thing is it has an absolutely gorgeous sound with guitar. None of that digital, artificial clean sound that most digital pedals give you. I have several other pedals and I've actually retired the Headrush to my studio 'cause I don't want to beat it up anymore. But it sounds SO much better than my Boss RE-20 that it's not even funny. For a lovely analog-type sound, I can't imagine you could get any better unless you can afford a genuine tape unit.

This pedal totally exceeded my expectations. After reading various reviews of this pedal saying it is too noisy or not enough loop time, this pedal really exceeded all those comments. Yes the pedal has a bit of hiss but nothing too bad. And the loop function is great, i can make loops so easy, and quick, it would seem like i have another guitarist with me. This pedal is definelty great, especialy the two delay modes which can either simulate tape echo, or analog delay. This is also a must have for any radiohead fans because both guitarists use tis pedal. The only thing l dont like is that theres no reverse delay. But other than that. this thing is a find.

I've had this pedal for about 2-3 years now and havent had any real problems with it. I will say if youre looking to store loops get a different loopstation. I see alot of others say that theyve experience a fair amount of hiss from it, which I myself have not experienced. But then again, i run my bass and keyboard through alot of effects already so im probably not noticing it and not really concerned with it. Very good pedal for looping with simple easy features to do so.

Way too noisy to use in any capacity. Seriously, it is not useable in any way. Not a subtle background hiss, a huge in your face white noise.
